Winning Engineering Inspiration Twice

Is it possible to win Engineering Inspiration at two regionals in the same season?

From Frank's blog it is only possible to win it once per season at the district level. I would think it would be the same at the regional level.

Since teams can only submit chairman's at one regional, it seems odd that an award that results in an invitation to worlds would be given to a team twice in one season.

I've only seen it happen this year.

But can only an EI winner win the EI at the division level?

For Chairmen's you have to win to compete for the award.

Also I thought teams could apply for chairmen's at every regional until they win. It this wrong?

Nope, just somebody didn't read up on the blog and the admin manual (TBE, I suppose--the "important stuff is all in the game manual" )

You can only WIN RCA at one regional. However, EI is a completely different award. I'd have to really check the Admin Manual, Section 6, to answer the original question.

Re: Winning Engineering Inspiration Twice

The Administration manual does not seem to address awards at multiple regionals aside from Chairman's. There is an unpublished Judges manual. It might be there. We have won EI and then won Chairman's.

Personally I would not award multiple EIs or an EI after a team wins Chairman's, but that is just my opinion.

From the wording part about the EI and being able to only win it once at a district event would seem to imply that it is possible to win it more than once during a regular regional season.

4329 would be an example of that

Re: Winning Engineering Inspiration Twice

First of all Congratulations to 4329. They must have an awesome program. This is not at all directed against them, but hopefully First will change this policy in future years. Same logic as not doing it in districts.

Frank, only thing is, EI does get you $5,000 from NASA so even if you won an RCA, an EI at a later regional would seem to be desirable. FYI team 2630 won RCA at Israel and just won EI today at Midwest, I'm sure there are other examples.

Re: Winning Engineering Inspiration Twice

I thought this was not possible until today.

We we honored with the EI at the Hawaii Regional last week.

Tonight we were blessed again with the Engineering Inspiration Award ar Silicon Valley.

So it is possible. Sure as heck surprised us.

Thanks to every one at SVR, it was a well run regional and had lots of great energy.

Shout out to Devin from Citrus Circuits. It was a pleasure being able to share experiences and working together. Looking forward to future meetings.

Aloha!

Re: Winning Engineering Inspiration Twice

At least three double EI awards this week-- Herobotics 2500 also doubled up at 10K Lakes. It's great to see such excellent teams recognized, but I'm sure that there are other deserving teams at these events.

Re: Winning Engineering Inspiration Twice

You can apply for and present for Chairman's at any event until you win it (Regional or District). You can only win that once in a season.

You can win EI multiple times in a season. There is nothing in the rules about repeat awards, except for Chairman's, at the Regional level.

At the District level, teams can only win one of the qualifying awards once - Chairman's, EI, RAS.

At District CHP's, only the teams that have won an in season, Chairman's, EI or RAS are eligible for those awards.
