Re: 2015 Lone star Regional

Wow! What an amazing regional! You know what they say about Texas... Everything is bigger, including the stacks and scores. It was really inspirational to get to know so many wonderful people and teams. 3467, Lambots won RCA and it was so deserved. Them and the Bears, 5415 - RAS winners, were a fun group to be around and had an all around great performance. We really appreciated all the help from the local teams, including 118, the Robonauts, who lent us a solenoid and fitting for our unused can grabber. We completely forgot to return it and the end of the event... We'll be sure to get it to you in St Louis. Congrats to them and 624 for pulling off the regional win hat trick this season. Finally i'd like to thank our alliance in playoffs, 4587, Jersey Voltage, and 57, the Leopards. To put up a couple of scores in the 200's was quite special and semis match 6, was unreal. Hopefully we will see you all again in St. Louis.

Abhishek has been woefully deficient in posting the links to the excellent video they uploaded, so I'll just leave these here:
Lone Star F1
Lone Star F2

I notice they don't have SF6 uploaded yet, which they actually lost. I smell a conspiracy... Or a really tired team.

Sorry, I wasn't the one uploading them. On my WiFi, they'd probably get done in a week. I think Justin got the finals up then went to bed - I actually fell asleep right when I got home Thanks for posting the links, I didn't even know they were done!

SF6 is now up as well it seems.

Re: 2015 Lone star Regional

Wow, what a season for Team 624. We've always had an amazing experience at the Lone Star Regional, and we would like to thank all the volunteers, judges, and referees who make it possible.

After being finalists for several years at our home regional, we were ecstatic to be invited to the number one alliance led captained by Team 118, The Robonauts. Despite the similar architectures of our robots, they seemed to complement each other pretty well. We also appreciate all of 3728's hard work and collaboration in those playoffs matches - we couldn't have won our first ever Lone Star Regional without the help of the Iron Pandas.

A huge congratulations to the finalists. 701 is a mean green machine, and it's no mistake they've gone far in every regional. 4587 is probably one of the hardest working teams out there. Having gone through a complete rebuild, they're now looking to make claims for the top ranks of #TeamTether, along with their Dallas counterparts from 148 and 1296. And we are excited for Team 57, who has finally qualified for Champs, with a beautiful intake, that landfill will be gone in no time in St. Louis.

Congratulations to Team 3478, Lambot. The Texas teams appreciate your annual appearance at the Lone Star Regional, and the Chairman's Award was very well deserved. Your spirit and outreach efforts are second to none, with a beautifully made video to cap it off.

Congratulations to Arthur Purpich on his WFFA, from 3103 Iron Plaid, and Chris Hansen, on his Volunteer of the Year award.

Thank you to Team 1477, Texas Torque. If I ever had to declare a single team as a "class act," it would undoubtedly be 1477 every year. It's no surprise as to how strong their program is, and thank Mr. Rip for all his help each year (we won't forget that coopertition!).

Thanks to all the teams and volunteers for making Lone Star the best regional around, once again!

Re: 2015 Lone star Regional

Pearadox had a great time at our first official event. The students all left the regional talking about what we can improve for next year, and seeing the level of excitement from them and them asking us if we can do this, this and that in the summer and fall is so great to hear as a coach. That would not happen if they didn't feel so welcomed and inspired by the teams that we get to see at Lone Star.

To that end, I wanted to thank a lot of teams - Get Smart helped us design a motor mount in the morning when we realized we didn't pack some versa gearbox mounts we thought we had. Invictus took the time to show the drivers their butterfly drive and how it worked, and they thought it was the coolest thing ever. And then later when we were preparing our pneumatics system just in case we were picked for playoffs they provided assistance in getting the relief valve calibrated and some general tips of pneumatics trade that they've learned. Robonauts have helped us since the summer time, providing us opportunities to practice on a field and providing us with various tools, parts, and insights depending on what they occasion called for. Screaming Chickens made us feel welcome by power walking to our pit Saturday morning to line it with pears - and it means a lot to me personally to know that we were being recognized/joked with by people on a good team that we had yet to really interact with. Also, our students told me that Leopards brought the football player to our pit because they thought we were doing a good job (assuming they didn't "pear"aphrase that to me incorrectly) which is another huge honor and I am thankful for. And while Spectrum wasn't there to compete, they helped us immensely throughout last offseason and this build season, and it was good to see some of their team members there helping out.

Congratulations to the Bears on winning RAS. We knew it was going to be a tough regional to try to win RAS at, the rookies at LSR were all so very impressive, and we were honored to be selected for the Rookie Inspiration.

Great final matches too by Robonauts, CRyptonite, Iron Pandas, RoboVikes, Jersey Voltage, and Leopards. They were exciting to watch and I think inspired our team to keep getting better.

I know there are a few of you who definitely wanted to see Shadetree do better since our showing at Alamo. The truth is, is that we just don't have a robot that uses an elevator type mechanism that stacks 5-6. Or one that's even fast enough to get the stack of 5-6 without dropping the game piece.

Re: 2015 Lone star Regional

What a great time team 3991 had at Lone Star. We enjoyed the world class venue, food, and hospitality by the FRC community in Houston. Congrats to the Robonauts and CRyptonite on your triple banner seasons. and to Iron Panda on the big win. (And for having one of the best team names in FRC) also shoutout to the three Mexican teams for sweeping RCA, EI, and RAS. Once again, thanks to the Discobots and High Voltage for having us in the alliance. And to everyone else who made the regional fantastic, we will definitely be back. Hope to see ya'll soon. Keep in touch,

Matthew Cope and Team KnightVision

Abhishek is right, once I got home I set the video to upload and went to bed. It was such an exciting event, but also very tiring. Thanks to all of the volunteers that made it possible!

Thumbs up Re: 2015 Lone star Regional

The PantherBots 2582 had a great time at the Lone Star Regional this year. We would like to thank all of the staff, judges, referees, and volunteers that put in all of the work and effort to make this regional a success.

We want to congratulate the Robonauts 118, CRyptonite 624, and Iron Panda 3728 on the regional win. Your teams are definitely an inspiration to us every year.

We would like to thank the Lady Cans 2881 for looking at our potential and not necessarily our ranking and selecting us for an alliance partner. The Sreaming Chickens 3997 were awesome to work with and were a great complement to the alliance. The can hand off in QF-6 was a thing of beauty. It was a pleasure being part of the team and placing 3rd in the semifinals. We look forward to working with ya'll again.

A big thanks to Hudson Robotics Robohkihn 4295 for transporting our robot and equipment to Houston. Mr. Rip and Texas Torque 1477 for visiting our pits and helping with some CAN issues and PID coding. As someone else said thanks Spectrum 3847. It was amazing to see the amount purple shirts helping out wherever they were needed for a team that wasn't even competing in the event.

I am certain that I left many other deserving teams and individuals off of this list, so thank you all.

Good luck to all who are advancing to St. Louis and we hope to see all of you in the off season.

Re: 2015 Lone star Regional

Ditto everything Chadr03 said. He beat me to the punch while I was still getting recovery sleep yesterday. Not sure how he has so much energy but holy cow he's like the Energizer Bunny, he just keeps going and going

Thank you to everyone at Lone Star. Once again it was an outstandingly played regional. It seems that every year the competition gets stiffer.

To the Lady Cans and Screaming Chickens, we had a blast playing in elims and in spite of our mutual mechanical difficulties we worked hard put on some really great matches. I haven't stopped smiling since we left competition!

To all the volunteers at the event and Lucia, thank you for working so hard to keep the event running smoothly. Lone Star is always a class act and sets the bar high for how to model other regionals.

Thanks to all from 2582.

Re: 2015 Lone star Regional

Wheee! So now that I've had time to collect my thoughts and wind down from the regional, I first want to congratulate 118 - The Robonauts, 624 - Cryptonite, and 3728 - Iron Panda on the well deserved regional win. I do hope we made you guys a little nervous in SF-6 and F-2, though.

Big thanks to 701 - Robovikes and 4587 - Jersey Voltage for the 2nd pick. We were plagued with electrical issues for half of quals, so I'm glad you guys saw past that and nabbed us for our landfill clearing talents. I think we made a good alliance, and I just wish we could've succeeded at the crash diet for that cheesecake you guys were building.

Congrats on the WFFA to Arthur Purpich of 3103 - Iron Plaid. I knew him when we was just a little Plaid, and he's been dedicated to that team ever since. 4 EIs in 5 years means he must be doing something very right over there.

We took some photos while we were at Lone Star.
Spectrum Lone Star Photos feel free to use them for anything you like.

The competition was a lot of fun and we were glad we could help out even though we weren't competing. Congrats to all the teams that competed this weekend.
