Food in NYC?

Does anybody have suggestions for breakfast / dinner in NYC?

Criteria:

1) cheap
2) cheap
3) cheap
4) yummy

Specifically (in order of importance):

1) near the competition
2) near the youth hostel at 102nd & Amsterdam
3) downtown
4) near the Met
5) near Times Square

Head out the front door and go down the street that is directly across the street to the right. Go down that side street for one block. Take a left and go down 1 or 2 blocks. There is a great little deli there to eat breakfast at.
When we stayed at the hostel there last year, the hostel actually gave us food vouchers for that place.
Get a Meatball on a Bagel!! That was an interesting, and very satisfying breakfast.
