I think the metric would be biased to teams who win a large number of events, for example 254 (this is drawing from memory) has opposed a number of teams much more frequently than 135 v 67, like 1868 during SVR from like 2009-2014, or 1323 (I think we won each event 1323 attended last year, plus events other years). Or consider 1114 and 610, they've only paired up ONCE, but have gone against each other a ton.

Or look any team that wins events. For each event, they have to beat at least 9 teams (3 alliances * 3 rounds + backups). Since most events are geographically based, they draw from the same pool of teams year in and year out. If you win 4 district events over the years, 36 teams is bigger than a district event, and if it's the same event, you are almost guaranteed some overlap.
