Crazy Coincidences (or TBA bug?)
In 2014, 10665 matches were played.
So far, in 2015, 10665 have been played. This is either a bug in how the blue alliance calculates number of matches played, or an insane coincidence. I noticed this when I was compiling some season statistics for the teams. Also, the sum of the last 10 championship chairman's award team numbers is exactly 5000, and the average of the team numbers is exactly 500. (I didn't find this one) |

Re: Crazy Coincidences (or TBA bug?)
My data says there have been 10,648 matches this year and I used the TBA API to get those matches so... I'm not sure who's right.

Re: Crazy Coincidences (or TBA bug?)
This is really only one interesting coincidence: obviously, if the sum is 5000, and there are 10 teams, the average is 500. That said, it is one rather interesting coincidence.

Quote:
I'd bet it has something to do with finals 3 matches that aren't always played. TBA shows them in the schedule while the event is in progress, but they're removed if needed after the event. |

Re: Crazy Coincidences (or TBA bug?)
My count explicitly excludes matches that do not have a score posted (like un-played finals 3). I'm not sure what happens to my data when there is a field-fault replay match though.
