And these are only the ones we've seen so far! I think every alliance could have a can grabber if they scout well. The question is: Who is the fastest?

558 and 5122 both had them at NE Champs. 1058 is rebuilding ours.

1519 also has a 2-can grab. It was well-practiced at the practice fields at NE DCMP, but it only saw use in one official match (see Q38 at DCMP, in which it worked perfectly)... a side-effect of having a dependable 3 tote auto is that we typically wanted to lock in the 20 points! We are currently speeding up our canburglars; for DCMP 'reliability!' was our mantra, now we're complimenting that with speed.

558 and 5122 both have quick ~1s 2-RC burglars that they used throughout NE DCMP. Both have two of the better canburglars at DCMP, but expect them to be speeding them up some!

Yikes. Tough crowd to stand out in!

Re: 2015 Carson Division

I feel like Carson shouldn't have a field named after her. For example, Copernicus seems much more impactful than Carson.

Carson - alerted world about the impact of fertilizers/pesticides on environment
Copernicus - proved planets and planetary objects orbit around the Sun, not Earth

and most people have never heard of Carson. Maybe only known scientists should have fields named after them like Stephen Hawking, Ada Lovelace, Thomas Edison, or Dmitri Mendeleev. Anyone have any opinions?

So what if people haven't heard of her? Does that make her work any less influential and impactful?
She did more than alert the world about pesticides and the environment; she inspired the green revolution.
Read her book.

On a similar note......we need a cheer.....

Yes it does make her less impactful. Alerting the world about pesticides is far less impactful than what Einstein did. That is why the finals field is not named after her. And because the scientists I listed are more impactful than she, one of them should be named a field over her.

The good news...with two Championships, there will be potentially be more field naming opportunities.
I appreciate what FIRST is trying to do by including a diverse set of changemakers in their naming schemes. Objectively measuring the magnitude of one's impact is not an exact science.

I'm going to have to disagree strongly with you there. As Jaywalker said, Rachel Carson changed the world, especially for scientists and engineers. Before Silent Spring, few people gave any thought to the side effects and long-term impacts of the products they produced and consumed. The future was bright, and humans could do no wrong that they couldn't fix later

Carson's careful research, and effective publicity woke us all up to the fact that our environment commons did not have a limitless capacity to absorb our crap. The book created a movement that led to the first really strong environmental protection laws, but more importantly changed the way everyone thinks of their place in nature. There are tens of thousands of environmental scientists working in fields of study that didn't exist before the 70s. Engineers today have to consider a much broader context when introducing new products, and I think we're a better profession because of that.

Never said she didn't do anything or didn't have an impact. I said there are others who had greater impacts. And if you want to talk about things before the scientists, before Copernicus everyone believed Earth was the center of the universe. Before Ada, there was no programming. Before Edison, there were no lightbulbs.

My point was I think the fields should be named after people who are known. No doubt there are a myriad of scientists who impacted the world, but if no one knows of them, they shouldn't have fields named after them. The name of the field should make one think "Hey, I know of that person. They did this..." Not, "Never heard of them." Also, Nye Field would be cool.
