Question involving Alliance Selection at Championship...

As you know, at Championship, unlike at Regionals, the alliance captains pick 3 teams each, their 3rd pick being their back up team, whereas at a regional the backup team is the next highest ranked team, and is not actually chosen by the alliance captain during selection.

My question is, if a team was picked 3rd as the backup team, could the Human Player for that team be active and participate in matches even when the 3rd team's robot is not on the field?

Cant find anything explicity allowing or forbiding it in the rules. If you find anything, can you show me where it is in the rules?

This question was brought up last year (IIRC 1511 were the team that wanted to do this). The rules allow a 13th person in the driver station from the team that isn't playing. The question last year was if this 13th person was allowed to help deliver the ball off the pedestal and the answer given by refs at champs was that it was allowed. I would assume that this would mean the 13th person (if being used as an additional human player) has to be a student and not a mentor.

This is off topic of the question you asked, but every time I see your team number (3959) I always think it's someone from our team (3539). We even seem to have the same colors by your profile picture.

One member from the forth alliance is allowed. Doesn't say if they are allowed to act as human player

Does anyone have any more information about this/any sort of clarification on this?

This was asked at the drivers meeting, but there may have been some miscommunication. The answer was that if the alliance captain's robot was replaced by a back up robot, the coach from the alliance captain could be a thirteenth person on the field for that alliance.
