UTC New England Regional

today was the first day of qualification rounds. 173 and the techno ticks(forgot number) seem like pretty good bots. my team was in dead last all day, but we had a few programing errors that we should get set for tommorrow . If anyone would like to donate money to me, they can go to team 195's pit area and drop it in the can marked "Contributions"

Canada...y would u drive so far to come to hartford?? i mean really

Well there are a good amount of strong teams at this regional. Quite frankly, Team 571, Paragon, impressed me immensely today. They saved their stacking for their last match and got a stack height of 6-7 boxes. They are quite fast and are able to push boxes around with ease.

Techno Ticks(236) also surprised me. I watched all their matches today and they did phenomenal. I have a feeling they are going to do very well in this regional. Rage(173) and Buzz(175) gave me a similar feeling. Aces High (176) also put up a very good showing, though I am kinda upset that we had to have 3 matches against them.

Aztecs are putting up a good showing as well, but every now and then their autonomous mode goes a little psycho it seems.

Well to me it seemed like those teams are going to be the top 8 for seating. Though I have never been gooding at reading/predicting this kind of stuff so who am I to say? Watch for those teams though, they're going to go to finals.

Thanks for the compliment.
It was 6. We're kinda psyched about it because we really wanted to get a chance to stack something at least once throughout the competitions.

As far as robots go, I think the ones that really shined today are 173, 175, 236, and (time for some shameless self-promotion) 571. There were other robots that had a few good matches (and I didn't watch them all so I'm probably missing a bunch), but they weren't working till the end so I don't know much about them.

When 229 finally managed to get their transmissions back together, they had a great round (love the arms). 782 is good also (didn't see them much but they are the #1 seed so they must be doing something right). 870 and a few others I can't seem to remember are also going to be contenders.

The autonomous modes have been a mixed bag. There are a bunch that can get to the top of the ramp, but there are a lot less that can get there quickly.

So far this regional has been a blast. As for our canadian friends, they probably just heard about how cool a place hartford is and just couldn't wait to come down and visit.

Actually, through the whole competition, 13 out of the 14 times autonomous, we went over the ramp no prob. Not sure if you were looking at the right team. We also had many people compliment on the speed and accuracy of our mode.

I may have mixed up your team. I was scouting about 8 teams at the same time, some in the same match. It was really easy to confuse me these past few days .

Congrats for the good showing today by the way.

as the team from cananda put it to me there reasoning for driving to the UTC regional and BAE regional was because if they had traveled to the cananda regional they would not have been able to dress up in a chicken suite with a cape and run around with a flag from canandin flag. there a good crew glad to see they could make it.

Techno Ticks certainly had the best promotions and giveaways. It was unreal.

They had numerous buttons, balls and more.

We do this thing in the pits at Hartfrd where if you put a button on the shirt of the Pit Boss it brings you good luck.

The Techno Ticks had almost enough stuff for me to feel like I needed a second shirt.

Oh, and in case you are wondering, it works. i have a button from the winning team.

Best,

Danimal

Yeah, our canadian chicken wouldn't have been able to do that in Toronto. No, actually, we wanted to go to two regionals, and Manchester and Hartford are both within 6 hours of Montreal, almost as close as Toronto.

Thanks to all the teams who took our canadian stickers and put them on their robots (34 or so out of 38!).

Yuppp, I was the one that started it. (And the one doing the Drill Sargeant, Droopy Dog, Filght Attendance, Crocodile Hunter, Stuck Up Brit and Drive Thru voices - but NOT the wimpy voice. That was my assistant)

On the last day I gave everyone a little "how-to" on it and when we did it the whole entire Pit got into it.

It was fun and I am glad you liked it.

Thanks.

Best,

Danimal
