Re: Newton Division 2015

We are looking forward to seeing all of these great robots on Newton. We have made several upgrades, allowing us to turn our 5 stacks into 6 stacks, we can do at minimum 2 capped+noodled stacks. Also we are working on perfecting our 20 pt auto.

Re: Newton Division 2015

Like many other teams 587 will be upgrading our robot at championships. We've been testing a two bin grabber on our practice bot and it looks very encouraging. Can't wait to see it on the field. Also modified our arms so we can quickly stand bins upright as most of us seem to prefer them in that orientation.

Re: Newton Division 2015

Our students just finished putting together a little highlight video of our robot at the two regionals we attended this year and it also includes a sneak peak of our new auton they have been working on.

Enjoy and see you all in a few days!

Re: Newton Division 2015

It's hard to win when the other alliance has 7 bins to your 3. Raw stacking power does you no good unless you have bins in your possession. Whoever pairs with 1678 will win Newton and whoever pairs with 971 will likely win their division also.

I think that is a fairly good prediction. 1678 has shown that they have a very reliable can grabbing system, and also another set for cheesecake that is fairly reliable as well. A team that picks them has a good chance for getting all 4 cans from the step, which would be hard to beat. They also are a great team with a history of doing well at champs.

JohnSchneider what about that prediction is not reasonable?

I wouldn't say that prediction is inherently wrong. 1678's canburglar and overtly offensive power could potentially guarantee their win. Assuming their scouting system is as comprehensive as it was last year, and assuming they rank as high as predicted, they're in pretty good shape to validate that prediction.

I think the point is that this is one team that has the potential of getting 4 containers with just one pick. Their cheesecake arms have been shown to be reliable and effective.
