[OCCRA]: OCCRA with FRC control system?

On the long bus ride back from St. Louis, our team started planning off-season. Running an OCCRA-like competition was very popular. The rules look great and we'd like to build on all the hard work OCCRA has put into developing this format.

One problem we have is that we don't use VEX. We shared a build space with 3 other Washtenaw teams and I don't remember any of them working with VEX either. We'd really like to use the FRC control system instead of VEX. Hopefully teams already have a spare RoboRIO they can use, but if they didn't, VEX only saves them a couple hundred bucks. The advantage of learning to program and wire the FRC control system seems worth the price.

How much trouble will we have using the FRC control system instead of VEX? Why did you choose VEX?

A simple FMS-lite would be great, but it looks like we can make it work with just the normal team number wifi and a shared e-stop switch.

Thanks!

- Ken
