Re: IRI Application List
Waiting to see who gets in to IRI is like waiting for divisions. Even though my team didn't apply I might come down as a spectator for the first time.

Re: IRI Application List
We are targeting mid week (27th) for a final invitation listing.
Lots of great teams and some difficult choices to make. |

Re: IRI Application List
I can assure you this is a great idea. Being at IRI and speaking to all the mentors and students of amazing teams while they're not in the heat of competition is probably one of the most valuable things you can do with your time if you want to learn from the best. I highly recommend doing it!

Re: IRI Application List
I haven't attended IRI with a team since 2009 (having attended every year following as a spectator), but it is always a fun time. The matches are never boring, the teams are friendly, and the laid back yet competitive atmosphere is second to none. Definitely consider coming as a spectator, or better yet, a volunteer!

with this anticipation for the invite list. On the good side though, if it takes extra time to figure out who's going, the competition is going to be very strong this year and entertaining to watch. |

Re: IRI Application List
I wouldn't hold your breath. Chris said it was just a target not a hard date. They have some tough desisions to make, the list is impresive.

Try to, you'll be knocking out teams with multiple medals this season, teams capable of 2+ stacks/match, teams with Einstein banners, historical IRI attendees. It's crazy the kind of quality across the board this year, as more teams this year had the opportunity to succeed at the championship level than ever before. I don't envy the IRI crew's job whatsoever right now. |

Re: IRI Application List
There is probably a lot of thought and that goes into making the acceptance list for IRI. They could give an eta on when it could be done but they probably want to make sure it is right, and I don't think anyone is getting paid to do this. So I am assuming that there is a lot of extra time and dedication being put in right now to making this list.

Re: IRI Application List
Hey, IRI committee, the suspense is killing me. Your making this entirely to hard and time consuming. Get a pack or 2 of small index cards. Write the team numbers on them. Pick the top 30 OPR teams. Put them to the side. Take the remaining cards over to the stairs and throw them towards the top. Then take the top 30 OPR cards. Starting at the top of the stairs pick up cards from the top down until you have as many teams as you want to invite. This can be over and done with in an hour or less. You can post the results tonight.
