If we keep doubling the number of championship events every 24 years, it'll only take 240 years until there are over 4,000 world champion robots. This may quickly become a problem, as there will soon be more world champion robot spots than teams. The exponential rate of increase of championships is at an all time high, and is currently higher than the growth rate of humans, high schools, FRC teams, and places that can host FRC championships. In 770 years, FRC championships will most likely outnumber human beings on earth, which will cause terrible overcrowding.

This xkcd comic is applicable:
Heck. If you do it like in the comic, then its not a 24 year gap, its a 1 year gap! 2016 we have one championship, 2017 we have two! If we extrapolate, it takes only 10 years to get to the 4000 championships mark.

This is much more dangerous than we thought isn't it.

Re: FIRST Comedy hour

The year is 7943...

There is now such an immense amount of FRC championships that they are considered an annoyance. Medals are used for counter weights. Trophies are melted down for raw materials. Dean Kamen uploaded his intelligence onto a supercomputer and his consciousnesses now controls swarms of drones with cameras to watch all the matches at once.

We must go back to the past, to prevent what terrors are to come...

I didn't think in the long term... if this is the case, skynet's production must be moving along faster than expected.

BTW: XKCD comic; appreciated

Year 2502,

There are 2000 championship events. Blue banners are being handed out like plasma TV's at an Oprah show...

We have to go back- before the championsplit changed history. Back to 2012, when the hackers tried to hack into Dean Kamen's brain during Einstein and failed, causing any wirelessly controlled device nearby to begin behaving erratically.
This was only the first attempt to compromise the FIRST values we know and love. It wouldn't be the last.

Re: FIRST Comedy hour

Joke #1:
Did you know R2-D2 had the most foul mouth of all robots in Star Wars? They had to bleep out every word!

Joke #2: (blatantly stolen from Dilbert)

Joke #3:

Joke #4: (blatantly turned into a dumb robot joke)
A ventriloquist doing a nightclub gig with his dummy on his knee tells a dumb robot joke; a beverage service robot stops and shouts at the ventriloquist. “What gives you the right to stereotype artificial intelligence that way? You should be ashamed of yourself”. Flustered, the ventriloquist begins to stammer an apology. “You keep out of this, buster!” it yells, “I’m talking to the little idiot on your knee.”

Joke #5:
A robotics team mentor and his wife came for counselling after 15 years of marriage. When asked what the problem was, the wife went into a passionate, painful tirade listing every problem they had ever had in the 15 years they had been married.

She went on and on and on: neglect, lack of intimacy, emptiness, loneliness, feeling unloved and unlovable, an entire laundry list of unmet needs she had endured over the course of their marriage.

Finally, after allowing this to go on for a sufficient length of time, the therapist got up, walked around the desk and, after asking the wife to stand, embraced and kissed her passionately.

The woman shut up and quietly sat down as though in a daze.

The therapist turned to the mentor and said, "This is what your wife needs at least three times a week. Can you do this?"

The mentor thought for a moment and replied, "Well, I can drop her off here on Mondays and Wednesdays, but this is FRC BUILD SEASON, I can't leave the shop on Fridays."

Yeah, well that's just like, your opinion man.

Personally I find watching baseball to be very relaxing and enjoyable.

Q: What is the best way to deal with chewy horse meat?

A: Ask CD if a student or a mentor should do the tenderizing...

I agree...And not just because it's my dad that said it.

All I'm going to say is that when I originally wrote it down, I was aiming at a specific person--and then I opted not to post it, for a variety of reasons including that it's NOT funny. (I have independent confirmation of this.)
