Re: New info on 2016 Game

Honestly, I doubt it willl be water, ever year people say it will be a water game, even when the preview for the new George Lopez movie about the water game people thought it was water. If I had to guess, it will be something like a sport, maybe competitive lumber-jacking?

Re: New info on 2016 Game

Here's my take on the current situation.

What was one of the game pieces this year? Pool noodles.
What were they doing? Flying around the feild.
What is the primary material used to create the bumpers? Pool noodles...

So essentially this year, the robot bumpers were flying around the feild, and not being in the robot.

What does this mean?

To compensate for the flying bumpers in 2015, in 2016 there MUST be flying robots.

Hey guys, I see a lot of people thinking a flying game would be cool. The thing is, college kids are already competing with flying robots and FIRST is debating annexing the program.

Re: New info on 2016 Game

2016 is the 100th running of the Indy 500. Maybe some sort of 3 on 3 race over obstacles and/or manipulating pieces. Time penalties for avoiding obstacles or missing pieces. All teams in alliance get same score like Recycle Rush. Maybe add a pit stop for the human player to change a battery or a wheel. End game is a series of donuts.

They will have to really up their game then. I checked it out and it doesn't seem that different then frc at least considering the ground robots.

Also tennisgame confirmed.

Sounds a lot like 2008 (Overdrive).

I agree. A net strung across the top of the field would keep small drones inside.

It is hard to say if some people are actually serious about this but the strain of building a robot plus making it waterproof would be too much for some teams, even though it has been done elsewhere. Also, just imagine the nightmare of having a water arena for regionals, there are so many accidents there just waiting to happen...
I don't think anyone is serious about a water game, but rather very serious about "proving" that next year's game is a water game. Its cheap entertainment and keeps the brain funtioning over the summer.

A small, tethered drone that has to land on a platform. You wouldn't want radio remote controll, there's enough garbage in the air to really mess with the contoll. Perhaps something like a 10' usb cable to give controll and power to the drone.
