Maize Craze Admin Manual?

My team is considering doing an off-season event of Maize Craze sometime next spring.

Does anyone have any information on how the Maize Craze championship worked? (ie. how teams were ranked; rounds of matches; advancing to next round)

Thanks!

They were probably saving space by not putting that information up.

The Robot started small and grew in size. Then in recent years have gotten smaller. (2012-> 2013)

The pictures here give you a good idea of how large the robots were that year.

Re: Maize Craze Admin Manual?

More importantly that sounds like one of the coolest offseasons ever. I think it'd be awesome to have a recurring offseason that played old games every year. It'd be really cool to see how teams could iterate on a design and really see an FRC game evolve over the years.

Re: Maize Craze Admin Manual?

Thanks so much for that information!

I do have one question however. How was it decided which teams were on each side ("Winner's" or "Loser's") of the bracket?

& then could be nearly any size this year, other than a height restriction

Re: Maize Craze Admin Manual?

If you are considering hosting an off-season FRC-class event different from that year's game I'd suggest you check out BunnyBots. Each year we develop a different game that is played with FRC-class robots. We intentionally keep these games simpler than a FRC game so that new members can get their feet wet before the FRC season gets underway.

BunnyBots has been a big hit in Oregon with around 24 teams taking part each season. This year's game will be released Sept 1st. We'd be happy to have more regions taking part.

Umm.... The name should say it all? You lose, you end up on that side. Otherwise, you're on the winner's side.

Actually, I'm going to go for one of my favorite old threads, dedicated to discussion of the Bracket of DOOM! There's a link to a picture of the bracket for 1998 (incidentally, the last year of that type of bracket).

On another note: I 100% agree with Ed. That TechnoKats History Project is really great for finding little gems of past games--I often go straight there when I'm working up a new "simplified game rules" for my strategy workshop.
