Re: Best teams over the past 5 years...
Not sure who 1823 is...
987 should be on this list for sure. 1986 and 1717 could make a case to be here also. 1023 is great but I don't know if I'd put them that high. The amount of banners doesn't necessarily correlate with the best teams. Teams in districts often go to more events than teams in the regional system. |

Re: Best teams over the past 5 years...
This whitepaper addresses similar question: what teams have done the best at Championship?

There's quite a lot of discussion in this thread from the team-culture standpoint: http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/sh....php?p=1442304 Also, at least from the teams listed above, they all operate differently. From what I know of top-tier teams, there are a few common pratices that most (but not all) share: 1. Time: Top teams simply meet for many more hours than mid-tier teams do. However, don't fall into the trap of working harder instead of working smarter. 2. Drive practice: Most mid-tier FRC teams have much better robots than they do drivers. There is a significant resource barrier here; periennial Einstein contenders usually have a practice robot and at least partial field access for tons and tons of drive practice. 3. Strategic design: A lot of top tier teams share very similar strategic design processes. Watch any of the seminars/lectures that Karthik has on this topic.
