Robotics teams can win tickets to an advanced screening of The Martian!

Team 1138 is collaborating with 20th Century Fox to host a contest for robotics team members to win admission to advance screenings of The Martian in 40 cities across the United States and Canada! The Martian perfectly demonstrates a level of ingenuity, passion, and drive that all robotics teams strive for. Check our twitter @Team1138 and website www.team1138robotics.com for more info and how to enter.

This is an awesome book, and I love the idea. I spent a full day reading it this summer while on a camping trip, and the science/engineering is very sound. Everyone should go ask their school librarian for a copy!

I agree. I read it in three nights, and it was tough to put down. I can't wait to see the movie, but I'm aware I might be disappointed after reading the book. I can't imagine how they'd capture some of the intricate details that the book gets in to.

I immediately passed the book on to my brother. I highly suggest it.

This is cool!

Reminds me of 2008 when my old team (931) was invited to an advance screening of Iron Man at a St. Louis theater -- they demonstrated a robot in the lobby. Getting FIRST teams in front of public tech events like this is great for the mission.

I believe in intuition and inspiration. Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited, whereas imagination embraces the entire world, stimulating progress, giving birth to evolution. It is, strictly speaking, a real factor in scientific research.
