Team 5657 Lost in Flood!

I want to first give you a little background. Team 5657 is from a small community in rural Wyoming. The town has 1500 people and there are 112 kids in the high school. This summer a flood came through our little town and wiped out many team members homes and local sponsors businesses.

We have started the process of fund raising and asking for donors to support this years team. Unfortunately, with all of the losses it has been difficult for the locals to help out. Many of the local businesses lost to much to have any funds for sponsorship. I know many of you are in a similar boat (flood pun) and know how hard it is to get funding.

We are NOT asking for money because this isn't the place for that. However, we would like to ask for any of those teams that have been around for a long time or have a large budget each year if they could help us out with parts. Last year was our rookie year so we don't have much. I know that there are teams that have tubs of old CIM motors, motor controllers, wheels, and gearboxes that they don't use anymore.

If you are one of those teams we would greatly appreciate your help. This would help us reduce the amount of money we need to raise for the build season. I'm just trying to get creative here of ways to keep this team afloat (flood pun). If your team can help please contact us. We appreciate your support.

Sincerly,

Team 5657

Very sorry to hear about the situation.. hardships like this can be devastating for an FRC team and their whole community. The Robowranglers definitely have some stock that we are happy to share - please also PM me contact/shipping info and we will have it headed your way soon.

We would like to help
Can you be a little more specific in what you need exactly?
A list posted here might help everyone to identify and send things from the list.

I've already PMed you as well, but having a list would make things easier. You might end up with a whole lot of things you aren't sure how to use otherwise. We know it won't be completely inclusive but knowing a little bit about what you already have, your manufacturing resources etc can help veteran team better judge what you might find useful.

Team 1257 would love to help, too.

I agree with what others have said - it would help to have some idea of what you need. We're happy to share, but we want to do it in a way that will help you.

Re: Team 5657 Lost in Flood!

Agree with others on a list. If you want to priotize, doing a NEEDS and WANTS section often help:

IE
NEED:
2015 Base Control system (Robo-Rio, PDP, PCM, VRM......)
2015 KITBOT Chassis (AM....)
4 CIMS
4 Motor Controllers
Laptop
2 XXX Gamepad controllers

WANT:
2nd 2015 Control System
Additional 2015 legal motors/gearboxes
Additional Motor controllers
Compressor and Pneumatic Tubing
FRC Legal Wire
FRC wheels/belts....
Cordless Drills other tool....

Doing a need/want type of sort can help teams understand what you need, and you will not come across as "greedy" listing a bunch of stuff in the wants (IMO).

Re: Team 5657 Lost in Flood!

Wow we really appreciate all of your generosity. This will definitely help us out a bunch. After taking your suggestions I have put together a need and want list. If it is broken and can be fixed we would also accept it. Last year we didn’t get into the pneumatics so we no nothing on the end. However, we did burn up a few motors and motor controllers. Last year we used the stock frame and wheels and were hoping to upgrade this year to a different wheel configuration. If you have anything that you would suggest we try using we would appreciate that also. Thank you all again for the overwhelming support.
