[OCCRA]: Clarification of Robot Perimeter
According to RB7, the physical constraints of the robot size include the statement: "The entire robot must fit within a 132” perimeter footprint and be no more than 48” in height at the start of the match. [Remember teams: Robots must be able to fit through 30” doorways, so keep at least one dimension under 30 inches!] At the start of each match, no part of the robot can be extended outside of the vertical planes created by this perimeter footprint.”
OCCRA officials consider the extent of the robot perimeter on each side to be determined by the robot structure that extends the farthest out on that side of the robot. Imagine that the robot is pushed against a wall: what hits first? For example, the Placebo robot's front bar is the structure that extends out the farthest on the front side of the robot. The robot's chassis edge extends the farthest out on the other 3 sides. Since these 4 vertical planes form a rectangle with a perimeter less than 132", the Placebo is a legal OCCRA robot. The perimeter constraint is in the rules to promote safe and convenient transport (so no appendages stick way out and hurt innocent bystanders!)
