Exclamation Cell or Cartoon Shading?

I just installed our team's software and i was wondering if there was a way to achieve cell or cartoon shading. I don't really want to buy a plugin. any suggestions?

I'm pretty sure there's an option or two in the render flyouts, but VectaMAX'll do flat shading. Don't ask my how, since I don't clog my HDD with stuff I don't need, but it does.

You simply need to change out your renderer. Press SHIFT+R and that will open the render dialog. Now scroll down until you see a flyout called CURRENT RENDERERS. Click ASSIGN and select the renderer entitled VECTA 3D. This should add a flyout bar called VECTA 3D RENDERER that should be automatically expanded. If not, expand it by clicking on the bar. You can choose to either output to a file or the screen, with the files being either FLASH or ILLUSTRATOR. And then mixing and matching render styles will hopefully give you the look you're going for.

As for me, I dont really like Vecta 3D unless I need a Flash or Illustrator file. There are a few 3rd party plugins that work better but cost a pretty penny. Cartoon Reyes is one, and another would be Illustrate, which I prefer as It has quite a few options to really achieve the look you want. That and I think that for only $99 smackers, you can get an educational copy. But dont quote me on that... B^P.

Hope this helps, good luck, and happy animating!
