Double topped stack with AIR GAP!!

Robert Green from 3250 shot this picture at the end of our second Semifinal match at Capital City Classic.
3250 had double topped one of our stacks, for the second time in two matches, when we noticed this! The second RC is just barely hanging on. Check out the air gap underneath the left RC! If the AC was on, it might not have stayed on.

Looks like that left Recycling Container is being supported by the lid of the right one...Just from this image, I wouldn't consider that scored under Section 3.1.2.3 of the 2015 Game Manual:

Quote:
"A RECYCLING CONTAINER is scored if it is fully supported by only scored Gray TOTES"

Re: Double topped stack with AIR GAP!!

That was pretty cool. Kennedy managed to do that twice during Eliminations.

I wonder.. how do they score the points for that stack? I initially thought it would be counted as 60 points (five grey totes for 10 points x 3 for recycling bin, twice) but I heard post-match that they re-adjusted the scores.

CCC was great, a lot of teams improved from Regionals.

The 3x multiplier is not the scoring rule, it is just an easy way to calculate score quickly for a (single) topped stack. Essentially, every tote is worth 2 points, and every bin is worth 4 points per level of tote, for a total of 10 points for the bins and 20 points for each bin.
10 + 20 + 20 = 50 points

With 2 bins, you could calculate it as 5x the tote points, rather than 3x for one bin.

It only took about 30 minutes to figure it out the first time
Basically, we had to manually adjust the scores because of how Cheesy Arena's scorekeeping system works, we couldn't just add another level 5 bin to the score without any grey totes next to it, so rather than score it as two separate stacks, which would have unfairly also included five more totes, they essentially "split" the stack into two stacks at a lower level and offset the difference by adding additional totes to the score. The score delay after that match was partially because of this, but more so because somehow a 5 tote stack with an RC on the red alliance side was missed during initial scoring and made the difference in this match. It was initially announced that blue won the match but after careful deliberation and some math from the referees and FTAs, we found that red did indeed win the match.

Careless mistake on my part. It's been a while... hehe
