Source for

I have a need to vertically mount some small routers and wireless access points. I've been digging around and I think I've found what will work well.

I'm looking for a source for the 3M mounting strips that they use for EZ-Pass. For less than $4-6 for 4-2" long pieces. What are normally super amazing Google skills are failing me.

I'm also up for other solutions, but being able to pull them off the wall is the major requirement. Assume about 1 pound for device. Also assume that they don't have the screw holes in the base that would make this much easier to do.

Thanks!

You want try something in this family: http://www.mcmaster.com/#96055k21/=zkzcy4

We use it to mount electronics to our robot. It's very robust.

Re: Source for

Super, thanks for the quick responses! Turns out, like everything else in life, knowing the "correct name" for that whatchamacallit is important.

Now that I know what I'm searching for, I've found a few.

3M Dual Lock Reclosable Fastener SJ3560 -- $20 for 10 feet

3M Dual Lock Reclosable Fastener TB4570 -- $13 for 10 feet

The difference seems to be in the temp ranges. I'm guessing that the EZ pass tape I was looking at is rated at 200F, the other two are 150F and 120F respectively.

I think I'll go with the 120F, since if it gets that hot, there are other worries than the router falling on the floor.

Re: Source for

If you want to buy Duallock locally, skip Home Depot; they don't carry it (at least not here in Slidell). Lowe's usually has a bunch of long, wide rolled-up strips in stock at a good price. Lowe's also carries a much wider selection of "hobby hardware" that we've managed to use on our robots for sensor mounts and so forth.

In the interest of full disclosure: I have owned HD stock in the past, but never Lowe's. My investment club sold all of our HD because the share price was even higher than the (very respectable) earnings could support. I still shop at HD about twice as often as Lowe's, though they are essentially across the street from each other.

Re: Source for

I have a couple of rolls of 5 lb. and 10 lb. 3M "Scotch Fasteners" that I got from different Home Depots around Houston.

http://www.homedepot.com/p/Scotch-1-...5740/204465388

They both come in longer lengths too.

They are stocked with the picture hooks in the Fastener section, next to the Velcro brand products.
