That is correct. I would, in fact, suggest that if that person can possibly work on both teams, they should. (Given some of the previous discussion about the specific team in question, though, that might be a lot harder than it sounds.)

For the record, I have heard of a single-student team competing before, with much support. A short-handed team can be supplied. But, if I was structuring a drive team and knew that I might be shorthanded, I'd start by trying to remove the second robot operator (if possible due to robot structuring), then the coach. HP can act as coach if they aren't HP'ing (but the reverse is not necessarily true).

For mentors (not students), it's a whole lot easier, I must say. Mentors can be on multiple teams in FIRST's records.

I have already tried the exercise of removing the second operator in the last three seasons and I ended up with fairly good results... I am mainly asking this question for help in the pit and having a human player.
