Nationals Eligability?

Ok, I'm pretty sure that the answer is no, but I thought i'd ask anyway. We recently won the regionals at SBPLI which qualifies us to compete in the championship event. The only thing is, we didn't want to ship our bot, because we did not know how the registration works. So right as of now, the robot is at our school, in the back of one of our mentors truck, all crated up tied down and everything. I know that teams ship there bots from the regional if they're going to nationals, but is there any possible way we could still go?

You do qualify as a regional event winner, but I don't know about the shipping thing, and if there are spots open, best thing I can say to do is have your team leader call FIRST on Monday.

I agree, call FIRST immediately!!!!!

I am about 95% sure that you are supposed to ship directly from your regional to the championship (through the drayage service of course) and definately not take it home with you!!

You are qualified now, which is great... but because you shipped it home by way of personal vehicle, I believe technically that is against the rules or not even covered in the rules, even as an unforseen circumstance.

Like I said call FIRST immediately on Monday, actually leave them a brief message over the weekend if you can and explain the situation.

Hope to see you in Texas. Hopefully this lack of communication, or whatever it was that caused you to take it home, does not hurt your qualification and abiity to go to The Championship Event.

GOOD LUCK!!!!

from what i remeber last year, 25 was put on a waiting list for nats, and the robot was shipped to the BMS, aslong as you dont open the crate, you are set that is what they told us anyway

We placed 3rd at our regional, not good enough for us to get the automatic bid for nat's, but FIRST said that we would be given waiting list priority due to our performance. They had the robot shipped back to our company, but they had it sealed so as to make sure it wasnt opened, if there is a way you guys can prove that you never opened it you should be good, how you can do that i do not know, good luck - it would be a shame if you didnt get to go after winning your regional.... of course it would open up more spots for us..... anyway, i hope you guys make it there.
