Great Lakes Inspections
As a student inspector at the Great Lakes regional I would be interested in hearing how teams thought it went, and how the inspection was compared to other previous regionals. Thanks =)

I thought that the inspections at GLR were probably the best we've ever had. It was quick, to the point, and the inspectors were technically qualified for a change. Good Job.

I was at annapolis, and i have to say inspections their, were not very pleasant, it seemed like some of the inspectors were partially biased, letting some teams go by with no problems. while taking 30 minutes on other robots constantly probing the whole machine, and almost trying to see, whether they could find something wrong with it, something small. THen they'd make you go back to your pit and tear apart you robot to fix these small problems many other inspectors would not even bother over. Overall, it seemed like they were going after some of the better built robots. but whatever

The one thing I didn't like at GLR was the inspectors take on the light placement, there were a few that to me shouldn't have passed. In particular a large rectangular bot with the light inside the robot that you couldn't see at all from off the field, at the same time I know some teams were given allot of grief to have the top 4" protruding from the robot.

I was on the inspection team, too, and I know we did pass a few lights that were questionable. I also know, though, that there were many teams that we turned down and made them move the light. The key question was: is it visible from all directions? If they could prove that it was visible from all angles, we approved it. Thanks for the compliments, though. We tried hard (especially Mr. Martus), and there were just so many of you and not enough of us.
