Comparing the distribution from this poll vs the US as a whole:

I wonder how the graph will shift if it was for all of FRC, not just those on CD.

I wonder the same.

Over 60% of CD responders are NT (Analyst) role, about five times the US average. Are NTs more likely to respond to a CD thread poll? I think we are.

Even so, 5x is a pretty big bias. NTs are probably more at home in a community like FRC than we would be in many others.

I believe in intuition and inspiration. Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited, whereas imagination embraces the entire world, stimulating progress, giving birth to evolution. It is, strictly speaking, a real factor in scientific research.

Re: Myers-Briggs Personality Types

After 10+ years in the FIRST Robotics Competition, taking on various leadership roles and finally returning as an engineering mentor, I am now a very different person from who I was when I first joined my local team as a freshman.

Once upon a time, I was an INTP-T; today, I count myself an ENFJ-A.

There's really nothing like FRC to make an introverted geek feel comfortable and secure in your shell, and then to crack that shell wide open and drag you kicking and screaming into the light!

Re: Myers-Briggs Personality Types

The highest correlation for CD denizens appears to be T vs F; (Thinking vs Feeling). Of T, only ESTP is below 7 responses, whereas among the F only ENFP and INFP are over 7 responses so far. Looking at two attributes, NT is definitely in the lead, at 57.5% (vs 10.3 of the population, according to the Myers and Briggs Foundation). As noted before, this is over 5x the general population, suggesting that CD posters are a significantly self-selected group.

Also, let me note variations among my scores over the years. Among a few dozen trials, I did once score an INTJ, and recently (on the most recently suggested test commended by Dan Eiland) scored a marginal INFT, which I attribute to some of the question wording which specified (for instance) "as regards teamwork", and which perhaps includes some intentional direction of my energies towards mentorship vs personal achievements, both due to FIRST involvement and as I realize that I am closer to the end of my career than the beginning. At the same time, I have become more assertive as the years pass.

I find it very interesting that proportionally CD has ~1/3 as many individuals as the US average with the Sensing characteristic.

Every type with an "S" scores less on CD than the US average.

My intuition tells me you have an interest in that. Want to debate about it?

So here is my question: are designs led by people who are sensing more or less likely to revolve around robot mounted sensors than driver intuition?

ISTP-t for me. A lot of it actually made sense to me, but I my have rationalized some of the stuff they said...

Which brings a tangential question; what is the breakdown of team roles by personality type (ie drive team, pit crew, PR, scouting, leadership, etc)?

I think this question is better suited for the parent thread.
