What was changed between picture date and shipping date? I asume you covered the sides and everything with either lexan or plexi glass? Are you putting anything on the wings to make them wider/taller so they can knock over boxes more effectivly?

Where you allowed to paint the pnuematics? I was under the impression you couldn't modify anything (which would include surfaces.. even for decoration) I'm not positive on that, it looks pretty

FIRST judges are picky, but the intent of the rule was ensure saftey(abecause pnuematics can be dangerous if built improperly), and merely painting the cylnders dosen't violate the "sprit" of the rule, so I'm sure the judges will let it slide.

I believe the "spirit" of the rule was so the cylinders could not perform actions beyond what they were manufactured to do. (i.e. what 45 and a few other teams did with tapping the mounting piece, wasn't intended to be used like that).

476's paintjob passes the "spirit" of the rule, but the "literal interpretation" may be their challange. I hope they don't have to fix the "problem" (if there is one).

This may be a 'closed loophole' though. Many teams have all but hunted for loopholes in the rules to get an advantage that another team may not have seen. I know the paintjob provides no advantage to the team, besides looking cooler, but it could be a judges call. Being that the judges are now teams, I'd expect their robot to be allowed to pass (which it should.)

Cool our bot ADDY IV

We painted the pneumatics on our 2001 bot (the gold one that articulated in the middle) Won Nat'l Imagery in 2001.

We covered all sides with clear plexiglass, then added decals.
Used the printable sticky paper for numbers and sponsors.

If you saw us at St. Louis---you might have noticed that we had to change our plexiglas--really rough rounds!

We won Imagery at St. Louis.

Good Luck everyone.

That mounting piece isn't part of the cylinder itself therefore it is not a requirement it be there...45 did not do anything illegal in this case as far as I know....does removing that mounting piece modify the cylinder or its function? no...seems pretty legal in both the literal sense and the "spirit" of the rule.

In both the painting case and the removing the mounting piece I think they are legal. Last year demolition squad (267) had caution tape wrapping (in the same place as the paint, and it was considered legal there too).
