Robo Riot 3418 Practice Chassis

Here is the practice bot that we have been working on for the past few weeks.

The mane frame is 1/8th wall 1 by 2 aluminum. We used 3/16 aluminum/steel rivets. The drive train is three CIMs attached to some 16:1 gearboxes from Andymark. The wheels are the 6 inch omni wheels from vex.

It is not the fastest of robots but it should be great for demos and such. In the future we plane on putting some sort of ball shooting mechanism on top, but for now it will just be the drive train.

Cripes, that plastic is to crisp and beautiful. Very well made. Speed sounds good for demos; not slow, but not too fast either.
Have you thought about mounting anything on it?

At some point we want to add some sort of ball shooter to it. The only thing i haven't really thought about much is how to mount anything to the chassis. I am thinking of welding some inch by inch 1/4 aluminum pieces to the top of the frame rails the drill through those and tap to get some hard mounting points.

That is a thing of beauty!

What is the long grey block in the middle - is that just for wire management?

Yes. It is a u channels with lots of vertical slots in in for wires to go in and out. Then you just put a cover on it and all the wiring is covered up nicely.
