Support Bots?

Does anyone think there would be a niche role for a support robot that could do things like
-Hold open defenses to let others through
-Ferry and give boulders to shooter bots
-Defend only if needed
-Shoot olny if needed
or would this be made redundant by high-scoring, fast-loading bots?
