What defenses is your team planning to cross? [Strawpoll]
An initial poll to see how teams are planning to breach into the courtyards. Hosted on Strawpoll so multiple defenses can be selected.
Poll: Strawpoll |

I feel overconfident by voting for all defenses aside from the 1' 4" doggy door. But our plan is to be able to cross any defense, at any time.

Better to be great at a few than mediocre at all.

While it's true that it's better to be a live jackal than a dead lion, it's better still to be a live lion. It's 28 hours into the season, be a lion until you need to be a jackal.

Re: What defenses is your team planning to cross? [Strawpoll]
I have a sneaking suspicion that many teams will be passing on the low bar. Having a high ground clearance for rough terran type defences while fitting under 16" is a difficult engineering challenge. You really get squeezed in the middle if you constrain your height that much.
I think a common niche robot will be a short, herder robot that is capable of knocking out that low bar. Having that capability could give many teams the oppurtunity to play in the playoffs as a 2nd pick. |

Re: What defenses is your team planning to cross? [Strawpoll]
I have a feeling almost nobody, save a few rookie teams will be attempting to do this. Having to build your robot under 1 foot 4 inch or whatever isn't worth the limitations in my opinion.
That being said you could very well be a potent wedge bot that could just go for the low goal by holding in the bolders with intake wheels mounted very low to pick up boulders. Make it a sort of "Fastback design" with the rear of the robot being a wedge under 5" to lift the portcullis |
