Post Flipping Rules?

I may be completely stupid, but is it actually against the rules to gently flip a robot to immobilize it for defense?

G24 states - Strategies aimed at the destruction or inhibition of ROBOTS via attachment, damage, tipping, or entanglements are not allowed.

It seems like it is against the rules, but I am too hopeful to pass up the idea completely.

Someone please clarify, thanks.

Yes it is against the rules to intentionally flip a robot over even if it is gently.

Re: Flipping Rules?

Is there anything about flipping yourself? Kind of like those RC cars that can drive whether it's right side up or upside down.

As long as your bumpers would still be in the correct zone I don't think there is anything against it.

It's illegal to stop the flow of the game. Flip your own robot intentionally would be considered stop the flow of the game.

I think they are talking about being able to flip over and still drive around.

if you're pushing another robot and your robot accidentally tipped over, that can work as a "legal" way to flip yourself.

Re: Flipping Rules?

Is this a joke?
1. Flipping anyone else is very clearly illegal.
2. How would flipping yourself over be useful at all?

Pointless discussion imo. Yes it seems legal to flip yourself over and keep driving but this isn't battlebots.

My interpretation of G25 is that if flipping the robot does not impede the flow of the match (like flipping over graciously), it seems to be legal.

G25 A ROBOT may not attempt to stop or impede the flow of the MATCH in any of the following ways:
A. intentionally tipping over
B. coordinating a blockade of the FIELD with ALLIANCE members
C. blocking GOAL(S) while in contact with its own BATTER using anything outside its
FRAME PERIMETER
Violation: YELLOW CARD for the ALLIANCE

Flipping over obstacles may have some merit. See team 1011 Crush in 2010.

Re: Flipping Rules?

Interesting fact that goes with this is regardless of how well a robot serves you, providing a tip to show gratitude is not allowed either.

Non jokingly it actually seems illegal to re-right a robot. Something that was very common last year.
