Roborio Expansion Port

Hello folks I am a member of Team 5655.The first ever finalists from Turkey. This year we are planning to use a bunch of motors and we need to expand roborio ports because there aren't enough. After a search for an hour or so I haven't found any examples of it so I headed here to ask you guys.
Shortly,we would appreciate if any team/member that could show us an example of expansion kit or teach us how to do or show where to buy one.
Best Regards
Onat Köylüoğlu
Team 5655

Re: Roborio Expansion Port

This is probably your best bet but there are other options if you search for "RoboRIO MXP" on Google and it is possible to make your own too.

Re: Roborio Expansion Port

For a little more, you can buy this board:
http://www.andymark.com/product-p/am-3060a.htm

Not only does it give you expansion connections, you also get a navigation board. Then, when you have time, you can figure it out.

Re: Roborio Expansion Port

There are a few choices on AndyMark. Here is one that my team uses. The REV robotics more board opens up all the possible ports from the MXP.

Other boards can include Arduinos, gyros, and digit displays. If you need any of those, they also provide pwm expansion ports.

Re: Roborio Expansion Port

I just realized ... The solution to your problem is CANbus.

You can put lots of motors on CANbus, and don't use up additional IO ports. We are switching to CANbus this year to reduce wiring.

Re: Roborio Expansion Port

Team 230 has a board for the roboRIO MXP expansion port which provides access to the various additional ports using standard PWM connectors.

We shared 31 of these boards last year (free of charge) with 22 different teams from 4 different countries... and we would be happy to share it with you as well. If you pm me with an address we would be happy to ship 1 or 2 out to you.

Let me know if you have any questions... or see more info here: http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=131842

Re: Roborio Expansion Port

Can you leverage the VEX voucher to get 2 Talon SRXs?
http://www.vexrobotics.com/pdv-2016.html
That would be two more CAN motor controllers, that don't need to use PWM channels. And they are FREE.
