I voted for simplicity. Combining the intake and shooter into 1 mechanism is a very simple thing to do. I don't really think it's worth the complexity, weight, and volume to add a second intake when turning takes very little time. Same reasoning for why I don't think strafing is worth it in this game.

I think this really depends on your robot, and your drivers. if your shooter/outtake require the ball to enter from the rear (like a catapult might) then a rear intake makes sense. the other half is about drivers, sometimes drivers will get confused or turned around when trying to drive backwards. last year our robot was symmetrical front to back, so our drivers got very good at driving backwards and forwards, and switching between the two, but for some, I can easily see how having the intake be "forward" simplifies driving

Collect from back, shoot from back. Just because you shoot out one direction doesn't mean you shouldn't have the shooter most in that direction.
