Measuring incline

I am wondering what sensors are you guys using to measure incline?

Our team is deciding this right now. We thought about using an accelerometer, but the trouble is: it may still have a reading when the robot is not inclined (i.e. when the robot is hit, or intentionally accelerated).

Also, has any team successfully used gyro for this purpose?

We really appreciate your advice! Thanks!
