Ramparts

Anyone know the drop off from the ramparts? I know that the width is 2 ft for each part and that the length is 1ft 10in total, and that it has an 8* angle. And I know I could figure it out if I really tried, but I was wondering if there was something else out there that had that measurement. We need to know so that we know if it will or will not work with our robot's size.

Re: Ramparts

22tan(8deg)= 3.092

So... roughly 3.1 inches

That's what I got when I did the math on Saturday. Note that the robot does not need quite this much ground clearance to get on top of the rampart, because it is running up the ramp; this is similar to the front clearance needing to be less than 15" to get under the 16" low bar. Just how much is needed is a function of your wheelbase and how far your chassis extends ahead of the front wheel axle.

While we're designing with enough ground clearance to cross the ramparts on-center, we'll probably make our robot narrow enough to drive up the left side, and only have to worry about the steep drop on exiting.
