Question Flipped?

Just out of curiosity, how many teams have had their robot flip during competition?

Our robot flipped when it went up against swamp thing at UCF

we flipped 4 times at SVR so far... every match weve been working in except one weve flipped... oh well... its all Karma baby, we flipped a team yesterday so its coming back to get us now. Now if our driver just could figure out that when your being flipped, you cannot keep going forward...

I don'tknow

Hmm. I don't know if this would be a bad thing or not, but maybe you could add a wedge to your bot? Not a really steep one because that's calling for a referee to give you a foul. But one that is low to the ground so robots can't come under you. I'd say 60 degrees to the horizontal might do. If you do that the other robot will loose some of it's normal force and distribute it to you. In a pushing match so should be more firmly on the floor (it works wonders for traction but I'm not 100% sure for flipping). It's harder for them to come under you so you're more likely to get the traction benefit and there being less chance for a flip. (force of friction, "in the ideal" is commanded by the normal force). Still, if you got the room it's worth a try I think. think

Good luck! Expecialy 59. You guys allied with us back in the twice I think. But that was back in the day, 00, 01 ish.

My teams bot (302) hasnt flipped, its pretty much impossible for our wedge design to flip. Contrary to people's original ideas, we havent flipped anyone with it yet, but we have flipped our parters up in many matches, specially one memorable match where we flipped our partner 67 with 15 seconds to go at the bottom of the ramp back up and we both made it on the top to win the quarterfinal match in eliminations where we went on to win. Thats the flipping we do.

In the practice rounds we flipped if we went up a ramp, touched another robot, tried to knock down a stack. We completely re did our robot and haven't flipped since.

i flipped out bot 4 times, 2 of which in practice. We were having trouble with one of our drill motors so i would go straight up the ramp, the motor would give , id do a 180 and flip. We have alot of weight in the back. We are still thinking about making a little wheelie bar to flip us back over. should be interesting!

We were lucky enough not to get flipped. We almost did though but we were ok in the end.

I came up with this idea yesterday, and was convinced it would stop our flipping problems...It probably would of been a 2-3 hour job, which we didnt have enough time for...they may work on it this morning, I don't know since ill be taking a practice AP Test

at GLR in our final practice round we had one of our drivers flip the 'bot twice and in the 2nd "period" of that practice round our best driver flipped the 'bot too. the next day in our second qualification match we flipped on the ramp almost as soon as auton_mode = 1 turned to auton_mode =0 because our driver (the one who had already flipped it twice) bumped or jerked the joysticks and the 'bot flipped over back wards, again

Haven't Flipped in two regionals

We are one of the few stackers that has not flipped, although we've come really close twice. Our CG is really low for a stacker (the drive weighs 104 pounds, the stacker only 26)

I like the wheelie bar idea. then you know you won't get flipped. You can add another function on it too maybe like taking up space so people can't get on the ramp as easily.

Flip Free

Our robot hasn't flipped in 2 regionals Pittsburgh & Great Lakes!

We have almost flipped a few times but we were saved by our special anti flipping mechanism. We have great drivers but it has nothing to do with them.

Our robot flips...Though normally it is from our driver, and not other bots....Pretty sad isn't that? Only towards the end of competition, did he grasp the concept that you can't change directions quickly on the ramp with a high CG....
