Replacing Wires on Speed Controllers

We've been trying to find the right wire to use to replace the short ends on our speed controllers but have been coming up short. We have looked up everything about Talon SRXes and Victor SPs, and we have found lots of data sheets, but nothing specifying strand count in the wires. We need help figuring out how many strands of wire are in those 12 gauge wires. We tried looking on the Home Depot website and also the Lowes website for the material. We can find spools of 12 AWG red, black, white, and green easy enough, but they never say how many strands are in them. These wires are easily more than 500 strands. Has anyone tried to extend the wires? Does anyone know where the best place to look is to find spools of extra wire for them?

Thanks!

Re: Replacing Wires on Speed Controllers

Home depot and Lower aren't going to have what your looking for. Try some electronics parts suppliers, like Digi-Key. (Yes, that is a shameless plug for a local MN tCompany hat I am not in any way affiliated with... But they do support FIRST here in MN!)

Re: Replacing Wires on Speed Controllers

If you're looking for the exact kind of wire you can get some here:
http://www.vexrobotics.com/vexpro/mo...ricalwire.html

or since your team is from Michigan, try here:
http://www.therobotspace.com/SearchR...sp?Search=wire
(top 4 hits on that search)

If you are not picky about the exact kind of wire, you can get bigger quantities of quality wire at a better price/unit here:

Re: Replacing Wires on Speed Controllers

Hey Gavin910,
Just a sanity check - are you talking about these?
http://www.ctr-electronics.com/green...re-12-awg.html
http://www.ctr-electronics.com/black...re-12-awg.html
http://www.ctr-electronics.com/red-s...re-12-awg.html
http://www.ctr-electronics.com/white...re-12-awg.html

Strand count is in the product description on the page, its 600.
