It doesn't matter if we flip, our robot drives upside down.

![]() A robot can be flipped if it has the correct obstruction. (Such as 111, 229, 302, etc. - the question of the thread was "Did you flip?" You answered, but with a faulty reason. That's why you didn't flip yourself. On the topic at hand, team 470 did not flip. We may be able to right ourselves if we ever do, but that hasn't been tested. |

We flipped once between two regionals, but we just used our arm to pick ourselves back up.

We have been to one regional (Motorola Midwest) and have not flipped. We came VERY close in our first match, and if our excellent driver hadn't acted so cooly we would have. In fact, in onje of the qualifying matches, we had used a bin to flip team 292's bot back onto its wheels after it had flipped, again thanks to our excellent driver! We won a play of the day award from another team for that.

Our robot flipped twice at regionals. We had used two (?) sets of (interchangable) wheels and one set had some over traction issues

We flipped twice at GLR (once in practice, once in qualifiers). Then, we installed a self-righting mechanism at Midwest, tested it out 3 times, and haven't flipped since.

Flipped?!
Our robot is only 13.5 inches high, so it can't really be flipped. However, it has the ability to flip any robot that challenges it for the ramp in autonomous mode.

We don't flip...
...but we can pop some serious wheelies. We took the grabber assembly off of our stacking mechanism, replaced it with latex tubing, and placed 20 pounds worth of steel directly over our two-wheel drive. Whenever we accelerate quickly we pop a small wheelie.
We haven't flipped yet, but we have apexed many times. If you're wondering what "apexing" is, it's the act of forming a triangle with another robot on the ramp when you're both pushing equally hard. It's quite a sight to see. We flipped somebody accidently when we apexed and they didn't stop moving. |

Our robot hasn't been flipped. It has an extremely low cg so I doubt we'll see it flip at nationals. I lost track of how many robots we've flipped, and I'm surprised to see that so many teams made their robots top heavy with this year's game.

13.5 in? ours was twelve
Once again like gadget said, a low cg does not mean you will not get flipped. Our robot is 12.5 inches tall and we got pulled on our side, and then completely over. It is the nature of the game this year. Instead of having a goal in between competing robots, you have robot on robot action, which leads to a lot more "robustness testing"

Very true Alavinus, it is the nautre of this years game. I saw a whole lot of flipping, some of which was in autonomous mode. Gadget470 you'rw right to. Just one thing i was wondering, if the center of gravity of a bot is closer to the front or back side, will it tend to lean or flip on that side? (i've taken physics, and know that book's answer, but what i saw at UCF proved otherwise.
