Go to Post I think its great that some teams are 100% student built; but I would also hope that 100% of their students are mentor advised. - =Martin=Taylor= [more]

Compressor Methods

Hi everyone,

It would be great if someone could explain to me what the methods Start() and Stop() do. In the WPI Library's Documentation, it says that it starts and stops closed-loop control. What does that mean? What happens if you do not have either method? What happens if you only Start() the compressor (and never stop it)? What happens if you Stop() the compressor (and don't restart it)?

Thanks!

Re: Compressor Methods

If you're running the compressor through the PCM, you don't need to do anything unless you want to manually stop the compressor for some reason (i.e. get more battery power in a pushing match).

The start() and stop() methods don't directly start and stop the compressor; they start and stop the control loop which starts and stops the compressor according to the state of the pressure switch connected to the PCM.
