FRCTop25 Merges Into FUN: Recap!

Hello FRC Community!

If you didn't hear already on the Spotlight episode with Frank Merrick, we are extremely excited to announce that FRCTop25 will be joining the First Updates Now family and will be merging into a new show called Recap staring Mike, Justin, and Myself!

The focus of Recap is to provide an opportunity to talk about news and events going on in the FRC community. Recap will not just be about competitions and will start next week on Tuesday, January 12th at 8:30PM Eastern.

So what does this really mean and why is this happening?

As the FRC community continues to grow more time is required to present an engaging product. FUN and FRCTop25 came to an agreement that joining forces and creating a show that covers more then just events will allow us to utilize our time more wisely. We also took a lot of feedback from both FRCTop25 and the Pilot FUN shows to heart to help develop this product.

www.frctop25.com will continue to be the website host for the time being but we will reveal a new website in the future. Social media platforms will be evolving in the next couple of weeks as well.

Recap will continue to evolve, but here's the general breakdown of how the show will run in 2016:

Build Season through start of competition season: Shows every other week alternating with Spotlight. Recap will focus on talking about build season progress, rule changes, teasers, possibility for viewers to call in to talk about their progress, other variety segments.

Competition season: Weekly show that be more streamlined than FRCTop25 focusing on general news, recapping regional events (faster then FRCTop25), and the Top 25 (segment will be about 30 minutes).

Post season: TBD shows 1-2x per month.

A couple special shows lined up but not confirmed:

Draft Night: Live auction draft of TBD teams where the chat nation can draft their own team based on prices set on the show. Chat Nation will compete for prizes based on how they do during the season.

Premiere Night: Similar to how FRCTop25 did it, allowing teams to submit their reveal videos to be shown on a single night for everyone to see.'

Could you expand on Draft Night? Is it somewhat similar to Fantasy FIRST except done by the chat of the stream?

Seems like it's an auction-style league. Those can be "interesting" to run, to put it mildly.

Great question! I got the idea from a Podcast I watch called Cordkillers.

Here's the episode where they had a 2015 Movie Draft

Here's the tracker sheet that they use.

The way we are envisioning the draft is that we pick x amount of teams to be bid on live with guests on the show where each person gets $100. The amount that the buy the teams for become the amount that anybody else can buy that team for to comprise their own set of teams.

We would have to track only their first event or if all teams have at least two then we track it that way. I am definitely up for suggestions.

When do you plan on doing Reveal Night? Cause normally it would occur a week after stop build, which means that this year it would happen AFTER Palmetto.

Thank you for bring this to our attention. We have been discussing the details and will try to release more information by our next Episode of Recap (next Tuesday). I can confirm that we will be doing premiere night .

Whatever you do do not get rid of premier night. If you plan on not doing it tell me because I will host something similar. I cant let something I like that much die.

Just to be clear. We will have a premiere night. Just need to work out the details which we will hopefully announce next week .
