Go to Post We did the best job we could out there, and unfortunatly we have human limits.. The refs don't catch every penalty, inspectors don't catch every issue, and this year the score keepers won't catch every single ball. - nobrakes8 [more]

2016 Las Vegas Regional: Accomodations

Anyone attending the LV Regional should be aware of the venue change by now. If not, the venue changed from the Cashman Center to the LV Convention Center South Hall.

Team 4276 has decided to get as many folks from our team to get rooms at the Embassy Suites on Swenson St. The ES closer to the new venue was pretty much booked a couple of weeks ago, but the location on Swenson had plenty of space. It is a little pricey, but there is no casino, rooms are spacious, and the included breakfast is top notch.

Just thought I'd throw that out there as an option. We'll probably have 20+ team members going on this trip since it is our spring break. The more FRC kids we can get in a hotel the better!

Re: 2016 Las Vegas Regional: Accomodations

Lots of other options available as well. Many hotels are connected to or close to the monorail that services much of the strip and connects to the Convention Center. The Circus Circus has great rates for LVR attendees, is just over a mile from the center and has a whole tower of rooms separate from the casino area if you want to shield the kids from that environment. We are working on other options as well. Stay tuned...

The biggest problem we're having is that Circus Circus, for instance, is requiring us to provide an adult for each room we book. That creates a problem because we do not have that type of ratio.

We're trying to find other hotels that don't have that restriction and are still reasonably priced.

Our team is asking for parents to attend this event with their kids. So we're having parents book their own rooms. That is not realistic for all teams, but try to encourage parents to attend. It takes a burden off the team and then you have built-in supervision.

Unfortunately for public schools in California, requiring parents to book their student’s accommodations falls in the realm of forcing students to pay for an educational experience (at least in the view of our administration). So, that isn’t an option for us.

Having a higher ratio of students to parents might be. But individually booking and having families travel together isn’t.

I have never heard of hotel management actually checking to see if an adult is really in each room...ymmv
