Hook Mechanism?

My team was wondering if it was possible to shoot a hook at the rail in order to scale the tower. Is that allowed?

Can you do it safely, and can you do it without violating the 15" restriction? If you can satisfy both of those, I see no reason to disallow it.

However, doing it safely, legally, and without violating the 15" may be a lot more difficult than you might think. Or it might not.

Re: Hook Mechanism?

Also make sure that you don't toss the hook into the high goal; obvious throwable designs that can grab rung will also hook the goal frame.

In terms of legality, there is nothing against the rules with the actual mechanism. Plus in the last 20 seconds, there's no height restriction.

I wasn't talking about the height restriction. The 15" frame perimeter restriction applies at all times.

And an otherwise perfectly legal device can be ruled to be unsafe in operation, rendering it illegal.
