Pneumatic system

Hello all,
I'm going to cut straight to the question. Is it legal to have a pneumatic system on the robot(compressor, solenoid, etc...) WITHOUT a air tank in the system?
Thanks

I believe so. Though, the question is "Why would you want system without air tank?"

Type is an unknown quantity at this point
Re: Pneumatic system

All the diagrams on the game manual appear that you have to have a tank. I'm not sure why you wouldn't want one. You would have very low pressure going to your pneumatic systems, and whenever you used something, you would be using the compressor. That would kill your battery quickly. If you only want to use pneumatics once, it would probably be a better idea to have an off board compressor, and have a tank to store it in.

Re: Pneumatic system

Whether or not it's legal, it doesn't make sense. In practically all cases, the solenoids use air faster than the compressor can generate it. Without a tank, the compressor would have to come on every time you actuate something, and run until it makes enough air to do the work.

That said, unless there's something in the rules that says that it is required, it is not.

Re: Pneumatic system

I see nothing to say it is illegal but you could theoretically store air in the pneumatic tubing between the compressor and the solenoid. That's quite a bit of tubing though.
