Mounting US Digital S4s or Grayhills are really easy. You can just press the encoder into the hole that already exists in the gearbox shaft, maybe with a little superglue, and then just use the wiring to stop it from rotating.

Mounting the USDigital E4Ps is harder however. When we did it in 2014, we 3d printed a mount for the encoder that clipped to the gearbox, and then glued a piece of shaft to the axle to use for driving the disk. However, I've seen many times where the E4Ps get assembled incorrectly, so I would highly suggest getting USDigital S4s or Grayhills. S4s are harder to buy, however Grayhill 63Rs can be purchases straight through Digikey here http://www.digikey.com/product-searc...256&vendor=136
