Trouble with the new radio

Using the new config tool changes the settings as advertised, but when attempting to connect to the roboRIO using the driver station and the radio we have intermittent connection at best (yes, firewall is disabled).

A quick description of the situation:

Pinging the radio from the DS does not work.

Pinging the roboRIO from the DS does not work.

Pinging the radio from the roborio does work.

Ringing the DS from the roborio does work.

What setting did we overlook?

Re: Trouble with the new radio

did you try tuning it on and off again? did you look at the manual? and could there be a wi-fi obstructing yours?

Re: Trouble with the new radio

I turned it on and off countless times and I even re-flashed the modem countless times. I have followed the manual to a T. Considering we are in a basement, we're pretty much the only wifi signal around.

Re: Trouble with the new radio

Reflash the roborio to make sure it has the right team number and the right firmware version.

Reconfigure the Radio to make sure it has the right team number

Set the IP settings on the wifi adapter to discover the IP address automatically.

Make sure the Driver Station has the right team number.

Try to connect. If it does not, try to ping the roborio from the DS.

If at any point you can ping the roborio from the DS laptop, then check to make sure you have the right version of the DS loaded.

If you can't ping the roborio ...

Set the IP settings on the Ethernet adapter (hard wire) of the Driver Station Laptop to discover the IP address automatically.

Plug the laptop into one port of the radio, and the roborio into the other. Disable the wifi adapter on your DS laptop.

Try to connect. If it does not, try to ping the roborio from the DS. If you can't ping the roborio ...

Set the IP settings on the Ethernet adapter (hard wire) of the Driver Station Laptop to 10.TE.AM.101

Try to connect. If it does not, try to ping the roborio from the DS. If you can't ping the roborio ...

Plug the ethernet wire directly from the DS Laptop to the Roborio (bypass the radio).

Try to connect. If it does not, try to ping the roborio from the DS. If you can't ping the roborio repeat with a new driver station. If that doesn't work, try a new roborio.

The interesting one is the last one. The others all make sense if there's an issue with the Wi-Fi connection - the DS can't get to anything, the roboRIO can get to the radio because that's a wired connection. But the last one should involve the Wi-Fi as well... What's your setup for that one? Using a development computer over USB to ssh into the roboRIO to ping the driver station that's only connected over WiFi?

I would recommend starting from scratch. Re flash the router. Check the ipv6 and ipv7 setting a for your laptops Wi-Fi and get that all set up properly. Restart everything. Ensure the laptop is connecting to the correct Wi-Fi network (and that the network is absent when the robot is turned off!). Focus everything on getting comma between the radio and the laptop first, as that's the hardest, then add in the Ethernet connection to the roboRIO - wired connections usually work really easily.
