Two teams, one Woodie nominee

Our school has two teams (1884 and 1797) that are head mentored by the same person. Both teams want to nominate him for Woodie Flowers. As far as I can tell, there is no rule against both teams nominating the same person. However, would it be strategically better for the two teams to submit complementary nominations, or for one team to submit on behalf of both teams?

Re: Two teams, one Woodie nominee

After studying and researching the award a bit more, I've come to the conclusion that it would probably be better if one team nominates him for the Woodie Flowers award.

If both teams did, it would greatly confuse the judges choosing the award winner, as there would be nothing for to make them would make pick "1884's" coach over "1797's" (for example). They'd be the same person with the same assets.

(Plus, I'm not too sure how sensitive FIRST is about the same coach been nominated twice. They might view it as someone trying to "cheat", or they might not care and understand it completely. But it's always wisest to play it safe and assume the worst: that they'd view it as cheating, in which case, once again, it'd be wisest to go with only one team nominating your coach.)

Good luck you guys! Hope I helped! (But if you have any more questions concerning the matter, feel free to PM me. I'd be happy to help you further!)

Re: Two teams, one Woodie nominee

There have been instances in past seasons where multiple teams have submitted WFA nominations for the same mentor and said mentor won.

If students on both teams believe the chosen mentor is the best candidate, they should each submit their own nomination essay.

Re: Two teams, one Woodie nominee

One requirements for Woody Flower is that they be a member of your team. It seem that person meets that requirement. Each team probably has a different view point so I can see the value of two nominations. To see how it would play in your region, I would contact your senior region mentor or whoever fulfills that role in your region (district?).

So was it a joint award for all the teams that submitted a WFA for that mentor?
