Modified Snow Blower Motor

Our team has a question about R30 D. We have a snow blower motor that we need to modify the leads on, and had a dispute on whether R30 D allows us to do this.

Re: Modified Snow Blower Motor

What do you mean by "modify the leads"?. I can think of ways that would be legal, and others that would not be...

Re: Modified Snow Blower Motor

By modifying the leads I meant cutting them off to just expose the wires and add power poles to them instead of the contacts and houses.

Re: Modified Snow Blower Motor

That should be legal as far as the rules go. They just don't want people messing with the internals of the motor and risking safety for weight.

Re: Modified Snow Blower Motor

I would say that falls under R30 B - you're allowed to trim the electrical leads and/or add connectors. Think CIM motors - you can trim those wires and add connectors as needed.
