Major achievement for the team

Hello everyone, we had a major achievement last night for Team 3044 OxBe4.. We have a solid chassis and drive train (that will need tweaks) but this is the earliest our team has driven. You will notice that the shooter and ball retrieval system is not attached. These systems will fit into the center portion of the bot. We also have to add our arm that will fit into the side compartment of the chassis.

cheers

Re: Major achievement for the team

For a moment, I was excited over what looked like a robot optimized for something other than the low bar. Ahh, well... Looks like we'll be far from alone in our decision

Nonetheless, a fantastic drive train! I greatly look forward to seeing the complete bot at the practice field in the weeks to come and hope we get the opportunity to play with you guys this season at TVR and FLR. While on 5236 last year, it was a real pleasure working with your team in eliminations at TVR. Keep up the great work!

Also, out of curiosity, are you guys planning to build a practice robot this season?

Re: Major achievement for the team

We are working on a design that will defeat each defense and it looks viable. We are just very happy to have a bot that drives this early on. The programmers are very excited to get working with the bot.

We hope to be on the practice field next week during vacation and hope to see you guys there also. We do plan on building a second bot this year. Major focus is on this one right now and all sub teams are working diligently in the machine shop building..

Re: Major achievement for the team

Looks very good guys!

Our experience with tracks showed us that if the modules are rigid enough, most issues (side loading, warping, binding, etc) teams have with tracks become non-issues. What we DID still run into was normal wear and tear. Now's the time to inspect after each driving evolution and look for "wear grease" or dark, greasy deposits left by wearing material. If you can lubricate/shim the area early, you'll avoid early component failure most of the time.

Nice work!
