Robot birthdays?

Today it was a team member's birthday, and we started discussing: what should we consider to be our robot's birthday?

My first thought was the day it first drives. Or should it be when all mechanisms are working? Or bag day? Or first competition day?

Thoughts?

Re: Robot birthdays?

Robot birthdays should be bag day (granted everything works).
The first day it drives is kinda like a gestational period, it's developing working limbs and stuff but it's not fully developed.

When it gets bagged with all working mechs it's kinda like it's being born because now it's developed enough for competition.

Kinda like reverse pregnancy, I guess. Instead of coming out it gets stuffed in.

I feel like the birthday is the first competition. Bag day is like birth. You see it for a second and it goes a way for a little bit.

Re: Robot birthdays?

Red Cross babysitter here....
So let's get this straight:
If bag day is birthday you put your newborn in a ring and let them go at it

I am pretty sure that first competition is kindergarten or nursery school
See:
1. It can kind of move around. Sort of.
2. It can kind of follow directions but often will ignore you and crash into things.
3. It doesn't completely play well with others.
4. The first few times it falls over it's a major crisis for the new parents. Then they realize it's tougher than it looks.

If you meet me in person <- just remember I am a babysitter I even have experience and I was even paid for it!
I look a lot like Walter White so I have to keep the card with me .

Your robot may get bagged with everything working...
I agree that it should be bag day though.

Re: Robot birthdays?

CAD reveal is the ultrasound, and first drive test is the birth IMO
