Exclamation Painting Release Valve?

So we were having an argument on the visibility of our pressure release valve, so we just ended up painting it. However I then checked the rules and noticed R76 in pneumatic rules. About "modifying" devices. I was wondering if it did not change the operation of the device, if it was still illegal. Thank you.

Re: Painting Release Valve?

DO NOT PAINT PNEUMATIC COMPONENTS.

Use a sticker or a label to make it more visible You will need to get a new valve if you painted the old one. Please do not sand blast the paint off or do a chemical peel or....

Don't feel bad about this, many really well known and experienced teams have gotten dinged on this in the past.

Andy Baker's team's robot flunked inspection for painted tanks a few years ago; I'll look for found the link.

Gus,
Remembering that day still makes me smile. You have to know all the players in the picture to really appreciate the picture.

And I like remembering being able to tell him "I told you so"
