Initial instinct is no, because of the gaps in support, but could you post something of the entire area?

Also, where is your frame perimeter designated at?

Right off the bat, the first thing that comes to mind is R26:

BUMPERS must be supported by the structure/frame of the ROBOT (see Figure 4-9). To be considered supported, a minimum of ½ in. at each end of the BUMPER must be backed by the FRAME PERMIETER. Additionally, any gap between the backing material and the frame:

A. must not be greater than ¼” deep, or
B. not more than 8 in. wide

Emphasis mine. Based on just that, I would say no, your bumpers are not legal currently.

Once you fix that, I would suggest posting additional pictures to ensure that your bumpers satisfy the rest of the requirements in Section 4.7 of the 2016 Game Manual.

I see two big legality issues in this picture (which isn't to say there aren't more that I don't see).

First, your bumpers are not supported on the ends- see R26. That means both ends of each bumper segment. We don't want any bumpers that are cantilevered, as that significantly increased the chance of the bumper breaking under impact.

Second, without something that extends into the corner of your bumper, your frame perimeter becomes poorly defined for your bumper design- essentially, there another "side" to the robot right in the corner, stretching on the diagonal between the two supports. That "side" is not properly backing the bumper at all.

Other possible issues that I can't tell from the photo:
- Bumper length must be at least 8". If those are 8" wheels, then it looks like the bumpers are about 8"
- I am assuming in this picture that the stabdoffs are permanently attached to the robot. If, instead, they are permanently attached to the robot, then you need some major redesigning to do. The wood must be on the frame perimeter and backed/supported by the frame/structure of the robot, not stood off of it like that.

Absolutely not. There is a lot wrong with them. The most obvious is the frame does not back up the bumpers from the corner and extend in 8".

It may be the angle the photo is taken at but it looks like the mechanism at the bottom right corner of the photo may stick out past the inside surface of the bumpers and it does not look like it retracts.

Your frame perimeter should be totally enclosed by the inside faces of the bumpers. Read the Game Manual carefully to understand the requirements for any spacing, support points, gaps in the bumpers etc. Ask questions on this forum if you are still not sure about your interpretation of the bumper rules. You are not alone if you feel confused.
